Recently, we've had a lot of people submitting pieces that don't appear to be even remotely related to Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra. We've also had a lot of people submitting pieces that could be related, but it isn't clear.

So, to help all of us, if your piece DOES NOT have any recognizable canon characters or symbols from either AtLA or LoK, PLEASE put an indication that it is related in either the title or the artist's comments (e.g., "This is an OC based on the Avatar universe" or put something like "fire bender" in the title). If we can't easily tell that your piece is based on the Avatar universe, and you haven't indicated anywhere that it is, it WILL be declined.

Actually, this is good to do even if your piece does contain canon characters or symbols, just to make sure there is absolutely no confusion (e.g., sometimes when people show a canon characters in an "Alternate Universe" and make significant changes, it's hard to tell that they're a character from Avatar). Doing this will make our lives as admins much easier, and will keep your piece from being wrongfully declined.

On a related note, if your piece is a crossover with another fandom, please indicate that as well. We have not seen every show/movie/game/book out there, and have occassionally declined pieces that were correctly submitted to the Alternate Universes and Crossovers folder because we didn't realize that the character was from another fandom and not an OC.
